Learn About Your Thyroid

 

It is EXTREMELY important that you learn more about how the thyroid works in order to have the wisdom to make informed decisions about treating it. YOU WILL NOT KNOW HOW TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO AS FAR AS REVERSING SYMPTOMS OR TREATMENT IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW YOUR BODY IS DESIGNED TO WORK. Don’t leave your health completely up to someone else. Learn to make good decisions and be able to advocate for your needs. That way you can make better decisions on your own and WITH your doctor if you choose to go that route.

So I am going to recommend the books that helped me the most in reversing my symptoms, getting diagnosed and learning to do things on my own as well. Although I was able to reverse my symptoms naturally, I did learn about medication in these books as well and was able to use the info to help my husband who is also hypo and is medicated.

GET DIRTY GENES

It is recommended to do an AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) elimination diet to heal your gut (your gut health greatly effects your thyroid, most of us with hypothyroidism have leaky gut) and to get rid of inflammation in the body for 6-8 weeks or longer so I have a couple of books that I recommend for that as well that will help you to better understand it and give you recipes to help you know what to eat. You can then move to eating more things once you have successfully healed your gut but give yourself this time on a restricted diet. I have been on it for almost a year. Your body needs time to heal. I am not claiming this will cure your thyroid issues but it helps with symptom relief and to encourage healing.

This diet is good for anyone with any autoimmune issues!
