How To Pray

Whenever I pray I feel as though I am talking to my very best friend in the world that knows me and all of my flaws and loves me anyway. I am just having a conversation with this friend and pouring my heart out. You can do the same. Your words don’t have to be big or complicated. There is no wrong way to say how you feel. That’s how you pray friends, you talk to Jesus. Be real, be raw, be honest. Be yourself.

There is no set amount of time that you have to pray. Some days all I can pray is “help me Jesus!” and He knows what I need. (There is so much power in His name that just by saying it out loud, you are saying a prayer!) Some days my prayers are longer. It depends on what is going on in my life on any particular day. I pray in the shower, while I’m cleaning, in the middle of working out and while I am working (especially when my electronics aren’t cooperating!) It doesn’t have to be a 3 hour ordeal. Just pray as long as you need to.

I don’t worry about how I say it, I just talk to Him. It’s really THAT simple.

God already knows your needs, your fears, your worries and your troubles. By humbling yourself and coming to Him for help through prayer, you are opening the door for Him to go to work in your life. That’s all He really wants, a relationship with you. That relationship starts with prayer.

I do always make sure to thank the Lord first for allowing me to live another day and for my blessings. Then I tell him that I praise, worship and love Him. After that, it’s just me telling Him what I need or what others need and asking Him to be part of my life.

I posted a short video about this on my Facebook page. I also post a short prayer each night at 10:00 pm EST there. If you would like to read an example of just how simple prayers can be join me over there by clicking here! Make sure to hit the LIKE button while you are there so you can connect with me.

I hope that this encourages you to begin praying without the fear of doing it the wrong way. He is there and always and cares about what you have to say. He isn’t looking for perfection, just connection with you.

Blessings,

Melodye

Hey mel, I agree totally with your take on prayer . Jesus our saving redeemer, states to us “I call you no longer servant, but friend .” Servants do the will of there master as commanded. Friends serve willingly out of a relationship who’s sole purpose is to please the other. Jesus said I call you no longer servants but friends, not because we need no longer to serve, but that our serving now comes out of an intimacy that can only be had with a friend. One in which hearts, wills, and purpose, are made one. Now when I come to my beloved, I can fall into His everlasting arms, and feel SAFE, that I am in the arms of my beloved. Scripture tells us ” the name of The Lord is a high tower, the righteous shall run in an be SAFE.” …. NO GREATER COMFORT I WILL FIND, THEN IN THE ARMS OF CHRIST, DIVINE…. I’m not a poet, neither do I find it easy to express myself. but this is what my love for my FRIEND sounds like….. yours in Christ john
