Your thyroid is extremely sensitive to toxins.
In fact, it sucks them up like a sponge so its important that you do your best to choose products in your home and life that don’t contain them.
I know that can sound overwhelming. Toxins are everywhere right? True, but you’re the gatekeeper of your home and that can be a safe place without toxins lurking everywhere if you make it so. You spend a lot of time in your home so it matters and can make a big difference with your hypothyroidism and Hashimotos symptoms!
I started ditching toxic products and switching to better ones by going room by room in my home so that I could systematically tackle the problem at little at a time which is better on your budget too. From your cleaners to your toothpaste to your makeup and skincare, your products need to be switched out.
So today we are going to take a look at what toxins can be lurking in your kitchen because that’s a great place to start. It’s usually the center of every home.
Plastic Food Containers
Plastic holds a lot of toxins so when you eat or drink from plastic containers you are ingesting those toxins and that can mean more symptoms.
Never store or heat up food in plastic. Use glass food containers instead like these HERE or these HERE. I even use ball jars to store food in. They are affordable and durable too.
Plastic water bottles are a no go either. Opt for glass or stainless steel.
And speaking of water, you want to be sure you filter it before you drink it. (Ditch bottled water that comes in plastic containers. They heat up in transit and it becomes toxic!)
Tap water contains fluoride and chlorine which have a negative impact on thyroid function. Grab a ProOne water filtration system like this one HERE to filter those out. This kind of system has saved us so much money and we no longer have to lug water around the grocery store.
Your pots and pans may also have hidden toxins. Non stick pans have a coating with harmful chemicals that can flake off as you cook your food. These are known as forever chemicals that never break down in the body!! That is SCARY.
Avoid those and use cast iron like this skillet HERE or this set of pots and pans that include skillets HERE
Starting here will get you on the path to less hypo and Hashi symptoms.
